Lot's Wife

 “Save your life

And don’t turn around

And Lot’s wife turned around

And became a pillar of salt.”

(Loose Translation of 1 Mose 19)

Why this theme?

Lot’s wife, the nameless female character in the Old Testament, is in my view socially and politically highly topical. She represents all the women who are refugees because their cities, which they have left behind, have become the object of destruction.

She represents all those women who nevertheless turn around to have a closer look.

She also represents all those who, viewing this destruction, are petrified by fright or the salt in their eyes.
